Exciting News

After 10 years of marriage, 9 years of being in business together wondering if we will ever be ready, we are so excited to share that we’re expecting a little girl in January 2023. I am over the moon excited to explore all the fun and exciting things with a kid and incorporate her into our life. Megan has been one of those fortunate women with minimal issues in the first trimester besides fatigue. We opted to do the non-invasive prenatal testing to screen for chromosomal defects and to test to see if Megan is a carrier for any of the significant genetic diseases, and were able to learn fetal gender from the test. No new concerning news there. It is wild what is possible now – extracting fetal blood from maternal blood and learning all of this information instead of waiting until a 19 week anatomy sonogram. We are having fun following along the baby’s size – she’s apple-sized today at 15 weeks.

We sneak a peek every couple of weeks at home with the ultrasound. It has been fun to watch development and how she has changed and grown so quickly. She does some wild tumbling right after we’ve had dinner and we love to watch those gymnastics skills.

We are in the final stages of our home construction and are getting excited to get out of our temporary living situation. The house build has been low stress and we’ve been pleased seeing all the color and design selections come to life. We have picked the nursery space and I know Megan will enjoy unpacking, organizing, and decorating. I am excited to have a front porch with a view, music space to have the piano, and a screened back deck to relax in the late evenings. We have worked hard and dreamed big for some time for this home and farm, and it is surreal that we’re this close. We’re excited to have a peaceful place we can host friends and family, and separate ourselves from work a little.

New adventures are ahead. We’re excited to stumble through parenthood and to love, teach, learn, and explore with this young lady. Finally we won’t look like total creeps as two childless adults in a theatre watching Pixar and Disney movies, or visiting the zoo.

1987 model, gently used, a little rusty. Husband to Megan. I have the best dog in the world – a mutt named Tucker (Tuck, or Tucker J). We have a farm with 3 horses, 2 barn cats, and 2 house cats. I was born in the most beautiful place on earth – the mountains of Western North Carolina – and have returned here. First generation college graduate. I’m an introvert with a very extroverted job. Large animal veterinarian. I enjoy playing piano, quite walks along the creek, craft beer, life-giving conversation, scuba diving, riding horses, and mowing. I like to write, but don’t get to do it enough. I enjoy non-fiction, biographies, and progessive Christian thought. I hate the texture of most soft things – think dryer lint and cotton balls and ridiculous fleecy blankets. I love the smell of silage, horses, a leather shop, and the hardware store. I live for moments of unexpectedly laughing to tears and crampy cheeks, and to feel and smell the cold air right before it snows.
